Does anyone have any detailed info in regard to the discovery of this new element?
What kind of experiment, what kind of chemical reaction and so on.. .
Thanks in advance… .

From "Discovery of the Transfermium Elements", Proc. Part. and Nucl.
Phys. Vol. 29 (1992) p.498…A Berkeley/Livermore research group in 1974
reported on the bombardment Cf-249 with O-18, in which the recoiling
nuclear products were measured. The alpha-decay of [106]-263 was
identified through decay energy systematics, excitation energy of the
reaction, and decay of the known product No-255 (granddaughter). The
half-life reported was 0.8 seconds. This has subsequently be confirmed,
most recently in September of 1993 by independent measurements. The
element is currently unnamed.
