Amazing low cost spot remover

Being clumsy, I spilled a bowl of strawberries and water on a carpet,
and as an experiment, I tried cleaning it up using baking soda and
clear vinegar, which I had on hand and are very cheap.

It worked. A huge red mess is now completely gone. No nasty
chemicals required. I used the baking soda as a matter of course,
but I think it may not be required.

Vinegar is also good for cleaning clothes in lieu of
more-expensive cleaning detergent.
